The Royal Castle and Cathedral on Wawel. This is a really impressive
sight. I recommend entering from the stairway on the side by the
Vistula River, as we did when I took this photograph. The Royal Castle
is the repository of the State Art Collections. Again, I skipped
the art.
If you enter the Wawel Cathedral you can access the Sigismund Tower to get a nice view of Krakow and vicinity. Unfortunately the place closes every day at 5 PM and we missed it twice! I thought I could sweet talk the Polish museum guards but they apparently didn't think it was that sweet. They told me to come back the next day. Whatever. |

View of the Vistula river from the road leading up Wawel hill. It's a real nice place, and I thought the picture looked good. So, you can meditate with this for awhile, or make it into a screen saver, or just ignore it. | |
My hosts in Krakow: the Sarnas. Dzienkuje bardzo!
Due to the earth's rotation at this latitude, the ground is actually crooked. So we're actually standing straight, but the building behind us, St. Mary's basilica, is crooked. You get used to this by putting more weight on one foot when you go inside. Ted Sarna (to the far right) is a meteorogist. He can confirm this if you email him (or his brothers, who will forward to him). Karolina (in the middle) can also tell you about this, and many other things in Krakow. |
